Leylandii Removals and Yew Planting

We were contacted by this client as their hedging had become over grown and too much for them to deal with. They had decided to remove the leylandii completely and replant with a more manageable and maintainable hedging in yew. 

We attended the property at an agreed time to carry out an initial survey to enable us to provide a written fixed price quotation. We assessed the trees and discussed the methods we would use to complete the job efficiently and with as little disruption to them or the garden. 

Once the customer had received the quote and accepted we set a date for the works and attended on the date given. 

Starting at the front we began the removal to ground level of the trees. This was completed in a combination of tree felling and reducing/dismantling to allow to fell the trees. Some of the trees had large limbs growing over the boundary of the property across a dyke for these limbs we climbed the trees and took them down in sections to avoid dropping into the dyke and or damaging the dyke walls. 

As the trees were felled and dismantled we processed the trees through our large wood chipper. Any timber too big for the chipper was stacked neatly and then removed from site. 

We took away over 10 loads of wood chip, 5 loads of log and many tonne bags of green waste. 

Each day we ensured the site was left clear and tidy with green waste being cleared, logs being stacked and brash being chipped. Any arisings not processed were left neatly for the following day. 

Once we completed removing all the trees being we began the planting process. For this we cleared the line where the yews were to be planted and then dug a hole for the plant. We put a bottom layer of compost in the hole, inserted the root ball yew and bedded with more compost and compact into place. In all we planted 120 yew trees. 

This project was completed in less than two weeks and left the customer very happy.
